John Glenn Fellows Spring 2017

John Conroy

John Conroy is a second year majoring in Public Management, Leadership and Policy, with a minor in Business. Having started his Ohio State career in the business college, Mr. Conroy has extensive sales experience, having worked for Vector Marketing and working his way up from sales representative to branch manager. At Ohio State, Mr. Conroy is involved with Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations, working with area nonprofits. He is also a brother in Sigma Phi Epsilon. He’s participated in Buck-I-SERV, Ohio State’s alternative break program, having traveled to New Orleans to serve. Mr. Conroy will intern at the Earth Day Network.

Elexa Diktas

Elexa Diktas is a senior majoring in International Economics. Ms. Diktas has obtained significant experience abroad, having studied abroad in Greece at the University of Athens during summer 2014, and interning at a law firm in Dublin, Ireland last summer. Ms. Diktas has also gained political experience, having interned for a State Senator and U.S. Congressman from her home state of New Jersey. On campus, Ms. Diktas is involved with the Organization for Greek Orthodox Students, Kappa Delta Sorority and the Ohio State Ski Team. Ms. Diktas will intern at the U.S. Trade Representative.

Chelsie Dunson

Chelsie Dunson is a senior majoring in Sociology with a minor in Public Health, specializing in dental public health. At Ohio State, Ms. Dunson works as a student ambassador for the Ohio State Center for Aviation Studies, as well as a Leasing Consultant for an apartment complex near campus. She interned for the Ohio State College of Dentistry as a Community Education Intern in 2015. At Ohio State she participates in the Ohio State 4-H Club, volunteers with BuckeyeThon and serves as an American Sign Language translator at Ohio State football and basketball games. Ms. Dunson will intern at the National Rural Health Association.

Vanessa Feldman

Vanessa Feldman is a junior majoring in Public Management, Leadership and Policy. Ms. Feldman worked for the Columbus Metropolitan Library as a government affairs intern last year, working under the Director of Strategic Initiatives. At Ohio State, Ms. Feldman is involved with the Buckeye Leadership Fellows. She is involved with OSU Votes, the Campus Vote Project, College Democrats and the Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. She is also an assistant teacher with Congregation Beth Israel, working with elementary students in her hometown of Austin, Texas. Ms. Feldman will intern at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.

Natalie Fritz

Natalie Fritz is a junior majoring in Political Science with minors in Spanish and Communications. Ms. Fritz has experience in state government, having worked as the summer internship program coordinator for the Ohio House Democratic Caucus during summer 2016. She’s also worked as an undergraduate research assistant for the Ohio State Educational Accountability and Governance Project. At Ohio State, Ms. Fritz serves as a student member of the University Conduct Board, is a member of Alpha Chia Omega and mentors students through the TOPS Program. Ms. Fritz will intern at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC).

Beth Fry

Beth Fry is a senior majoring in Public Policy and Analysis with a minor in Inequality and Society. In Columbus, Ms. Fry worked at the Ohio Department of Higher Education as an Economic Development Intern. She also serves as the media director for the Ohio State chapter of the Students for Education Reform (SFER). Ms. Fry is also very involved in her hometown of South Euclid in northeastern Ohio, working as a Housing Intern for the City of South Euclid, requiring her to accompany housing inspectors on site visits to determine rehabilitation potential of abandoned properties. She also cofounded the SEL Experience Project in South Euclid, a grassroots organization dedicated to sharing real stories of the community’s public schools. She was published in The Plain Dealer, writing an OpEd arguing for well-rounded educational opportunities. Ms. Fry will intern at the Partnership for Public Service.

Collin Harrington

Collin Harrington is a junior majoring in Political Science and International Studies with a focus in world economy and business, with a minor in Spanish. This fall, Mr. Harrington interned on Ohio Senator Rob Portman’s campaign. At Ohio State, Mr. Harrington is involved with College Republicans, Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the Alexander Hamilton Society. He will intern at the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America on their government affairs team.

Micha Kerbel

Micha Kerbel is a junior majoring in Political Science with minors in Hebrew and Economics. Mr. Kerbel interned for Ohio Senator Rob Portman’s campaign during fall 2016. Mr. Kerbel also interned in the Office of Ohio State Senator Frank LaRose. He is also involved with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), traveling to Washington to lobby members of Congress on AIPAC’s issues. During summer 2016, he served as an Abroad Youth Trip Leader with United Synagogue Youth, traveling to Poland and Israel. At Ohio State, he is involved with the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity and Buckeyes for Israel. Mr. Kerbel will intern in the Office of Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21).

Mawa Konate

Mawa Konate is a senior majoring in Public Management, Leadership and Policy with a minor in Global Public Health. Ms. Konate previously interned with Unchained in Columbus, Ohio, an organization that works to raise awareness about and prevent human trafficking. She also worked as a student research assistant for the Ohio State Political Science Department as an office assistant for the Ohio State Office of International Affairs. At Ohio State, Ms. Konate is the vice president of the African Youth League and a national delegate for the Model African Union. She volunteers at the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Ms. Konate will intern at Peace Corps Headquarters with the Let Girls Learn Program.

Sean Lowe

Sean Lowe is a junior majoring in Public Affairs Journalism with a minor in Media Production and Analysis. Mr. Lowe comes to Washington with extensive media experience, having interned with the Big Ten Network as a Student U Intern, working as a news assistant for CNN/Turner Broadcasting System at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland during summer 2016, and as an AV technician at the Ohio Union. Before transferring to Ohio State, Mr. Lowe attended Kent State, where he was a Weather Anchor for TV2 KSU, and was the two-time recipient of Kent State’s TV2 KSU “Golden Tape Award.” Mr. Lowe will intern in the Office of Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13).

Jordan Rennie

Jordan Rennie is a junior majoring in Economics and History. At Ohio State, Ms. Rennie works as a student assistant at the College of Engineering. She is the undergraduate representative on the Ohio State Department of History Advisory Committee, is the service chair for the Bucket and Dipper Junior Class Honorary and volunteers with children at Rock City Church. She was also a member of the International Affairs Scholars Program at Ohio State. Ms. Rennie will intern at the Library of Congress, European Division.

Jordan Rossitto

Jordan Rossitto is a junior majoring in Strategic Communication with a Capital Degree in Marketing. At Ohio State, Ms. Rossitto volunteers with the OSU versus Michigan Blood Battle, where she runs blood drives and supports blood donors on campus. She also works with Water for Flint, an organization that holds drives to collect bottled water for those involved in the Flint water crisis. Ms. Rossitto worked for Americans for Prosperity, collecting data by polling individuals about their political preferences. Ms. Rossitto will intern for the Girl Scout Council Nation’s Capital.

Tommy Sodeman

Tommy Sodeman is a junior majoring in Psychology and Public Management, Leadership and Policy. He has minors in French and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Mr. Sodeman studied abroad in Quebec City, Canada during summer 2016, studying French and culture. At Ohio State, he served as vice president of his residence hall council and serves as a mentor to freshman in his Humanities Scholars Program. Mr. Sodeman enjoys screenwriting in his spare time. Mr. Sodeman will intern for Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown.

Sara Trenor

Sara Trenor is a junior majoring in Public Management, Leadership and Policy with a minor in Political Science. Ms. Trenor interned with Ohio State Representative John Boccieri, and has also interned with Life Care Alliance, working with the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. At Ohio State, Ms. Trenor is the events coordinator for the Delta Delta Delta Fraternity, is a member of Undergraduate Student Government and founded the Block Back Service Events, a team that works to address food insecurity in Columbus. She is a member of the Politics, Society and Law Scholars Program at Ohio State and mentors freshman. She studied abroad in India during May 2015. Ms. Trenor will intern at the Federal Judicial Center.

Keely Veatch

Keely Veatch is a junior majoring in Public Health with a minor in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Ms. Veatch worked as an intern for the Women’s Fund of Central Ohio, working on a project to engage college students in conversations around implicit bias and gender norms. Prior to this role, she interned with the Ohio Health Research and Innovation Institute, working on a program that supports Ohio Amish and Mennonite women after abnormal mammograms. At Ohio State, Ms. Veatch is a member of the Sexual Violence Committee, working to prevent assault on campus. She is also a volunteer with the InterReligious Task Force on Central America, through which she traveled to Colombia. Ms. Veatch will intern at JHPIEGO, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University.

Aaron Wang

Aaron Wang is a senior majoring in International Studies with minors in French and Global Public Health. He interned at the Ohio Department of Public Safety, working with the Highway Patrol Academy. He also worked as a research assistant with the Ohio State School of Communication. At Ohio State, Mr. Wang is involved with Undergraduate Student Government, working as the student affairs deputy director. He’s also a member of the Resident Hall Advisory Council, is a University Senate Committee Member, and a member of the International Affairs Scholars Program. Mr. Wang will intern at Battelle on the government relations team.
