Chiara Banez

Chiara Banez is a senior from Strongsville, Ohio majoring in Public Management, Leadership and Policy with a specialization in nonprofit management. She is also minoring in leadership studies. At Ohio State, Ms. Banez is an active member of the Mount Leadership Society, a scholars group focused on leadership and community service. Through Mount, Ms. Banez has served as the member development chair, officer of activities and engaged in 75+ hours in the Columbus community. She is also a member of Student Leadership Advocates, a student organization at Ohio State that works to train student leaders on-campus. She was selected to participate in a nonprofit immersion program, placing her at I Know I Can, a nonprofit working to increase college readiness for central Ohio youth. Ms. Banez will intern at the Partnership for Public Service.

Gemma Bush

Gemma Bush is a senior from Columbus, Ohio majoring in Environmental Policy and Decision Making. At Ohio State, Ms. Bush is the vice president of Students for a Sustainable Campus, a student organization that designed environmental education initiatives for students living in residence halls, adopted by 25 dorms. Ms. Bush also has extensive professional experience, having served as a student writer for Ohio State University’s Advancement Office, as environmental policy research assistant at Ohio State, as a public relations intern at the Ohio Natural Resources Conservation Service and as a communications intern for the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association. Ms. Bush will intern with the Amazon Conservation Association.

Varsha Challapally

Varsha Challapally is a senior from Naperville, Illinois majoring in Public Affairs and Political Science, with a minor in economics. At Ohio State, Ms. Challapally is involved with Undergraduate Student Government, serving as Deputy Director of Government Relations, Social and Behavioral Sciences Senator. She was also a student representative on University Senate. She served as an economic advancement intern at the Ohio Department of Higher Education, leadership development facilitator for Student Leadership Advocates and as a congressional intern for US Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) in the Aurora, Illinois office. Ms. Challapally will intern at the Partnership for Public Service.

Stephania Costa

Stephania Costa is a senior from Ft. Bragg, North Carolina majoring in Political Science with a minor in public policy. At Ohio State, Ms. Costa is a member of the Public Affairs Multicultural Student Organization (PAMSO), serves as the social media chair for NextGen Student Organization and is a member of Inspire OSU, a volunteer organization. In Columbus, Ms. Costa interned in the office of U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, interned for Heather Bishoff’s House Reelection campaign and interned for the Ohio House Democratic Caucus. Ms. Costa will intern at the Sierra Club.

Gabe Giddens

Gabe Giddens is a senior from Columbus, Ohio majoring in International Studies and Political Science. He studied abroad in Uganda in May 2014, studying at Makerere University in Kampala. Mr. Giddens worked as a research intern for the Middle East Studies Center at Ohio State, coordinating a joint academic program between students at Istanbul University and Ohio State. He also volunteers at the American Red Cross as a financial development volunteer, supporting the organization’s development and fundraising initiatives. Mr. Giddens volunteers at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as well. Mr. Giddens will intern at Alion Science & Technology, a defense contractor.

Mycheala Holley

Mycheala Holley is a junior from Akron, Ohio majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies. She plans to attend law school after completing her undergraduate. At Ohio State, Ms. Holley is the vice president of the Undergraduate Black Law Student Association and a peer success leader. She volunteers at Hamilton STEM Academy, the Salvation Army and the Akron Food Bank. Ms. Holley works part-time as a staff and faculty assistant at Ohio State’s Moritz College of Law, and has served in this position since her freshman year. Ms. Holley will intern at the Federal Judicial Center.

Jonathan McCullough

Jonathan McCullough is a senior from Buffalo Grove, Illinois majoring in International Studies, specializing in security and intelligence. He has a minor in Business. At Ohio State, Mr. McCullough served as community service chair and brotherhood development director for his fraternity, Zeta Beta Tau- Nu Chapter, and received Brother of the Year in 2016. During summer 2016, Mr. McCullough interned at H2Energy Now in Tel Aviv, Israel. He also served as an intern for JStreet in Chicago during summer 2017. Mr. McCullough will intern at Battelle in their office of federal relations.

Grace Mercado

Grace Mercado is a senior from San Diego, California majoring in Public Management, Leadership and Policy. Mrs. Mercado holds a Medical Assistant Certificate and an Associate Degree in Accounting. Prior to coming to Ohio State, Mrs. Mercado lived in Spain with her USN Officer husband and two children. She held a position as Medical Support Assistant at the Uniformed Service University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland and was a supervisor of a multiple location of an international customer services chain. Ms. Mercado will intern at the National Academy of Public Administration.

Abigail Vesoulis

Abigail Vesoulis is a senior from Hilliard, Ohio majoring in Journalism and Political Science, with a minor in public policy. Ms. Vesoulis studied at the University of Oxford in England on a study abroad program during summer 2016. At Ohio State, Ms. Vesoulis is a member of the Politics, Society and Law Scholars program, serving as a mentor to new members. She is also a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity, having served as sisterhood chair and cross-council chair. She has worked as a political beat reporter and special projector reporter for The Lantern, Ohio State’s student newspaper. Ms. Vesoulis will intern at NBC Washington.

Connor Williams

Connor Williams is a senior from Solon, Ohio majoring in Public Affairs and Policy Analysis, with a minor in economics. At Ohio State, Mr. Williams is a member of the John Glenn Civic Leadership Council, serves as vice president of the Ohio State Urban Gaming Club and served as a welcome leader during fall orientation. Mr. Williams has interned for the Geauga County Community Improvement Corporation, City of Columbus, City of Hudson and Village of Remiderville in the mayor’s office. Mr. Williams looks forward to adding federal legislative experience to his resume and will intern in the office of his Congressman, Dave Joyce (OH-14).
