Across Ohio, there are organizations that work to educate and support the development of Ohio’s present and future leaders. Listed are some of the organizations with training programming or helpful expertise. Check back often as we will continue to update the listings.

  • American Legion Buckeye Boys State
    American Legion Buckeye Boys State is an eight-day hands-on experience in the operation of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties, and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Ohio government.
  • American Legion Buckeye Girls State
    Buckeye Girls State is a week-long program designed to educate Ohio's young women in the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of good citizenship.
  • Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics, University of Akron
    A bipartisan research and teaching institute dedicated to increasing understanding of the political process with special emphasis on political parties, grassroots activity, and ethical behavior.
  • JoAnn Davidson Leadership Institute
    The Institute’s mission is to increase the number of competent Republican women in public and community service and party leadership by providing extensive training and support for our class members as they pursue their leadership goals.
  • Health Policy Institute of Ohio
    The Health Policy Institute of Ohio is a nonprofit organization that partners with policymakers and other stakeholders engaged in the policymaking process to provide the independent and nonpartisan analysis needed to create evidence-informed state health policy.
  • Leadership Ohio
    A nonprofit statewide educational program, intended for emerging public and private sector leaders within Ohio.
  • Legislative Service Commission
    A nonpartisan agency providing the Ohio General Assembly with drafting, research, budget and fiscal analysis, training, and other services.
  • Miami University Center for Public Management and Regional Affairs
    The Center for Public Management and Regional Affairs engages in applied research, technical assistance services, and training for public sector organizations, primarily at the local government level.
  • Ohio County Commissioners Association
    The Ohio County Commissioners Association is the primary advocacy organization representing Ohio’s 88 county governments at the state and federal level.
  • Ohio Ethics Commission
    The Ohio Ethics Commission promotes ethics in public service to strengthen the public's confidence that Government business is conducted with impartiality and integrity.
  • Ohio Lobbying Association
    The Ohio Lobbying Association conducts advocacy on behalf of lobbying organizations active in state legislative issues.
  • Ohio Municipal League
    The Ohio Municipal League is a nonprofit, statewide association that serves the interests of Ohio municipal government.
  • Ohio School Boards Association
    OSBA serves Ohio’s public school board members and the districts they represent.
  • Ohio Township Association Leadership Academy
    The OTAL Academy enhances leadership and decision-making skills of the township leadership team through participation in OTALA workshops.
  • OSU Leadership Center
    The OSU Leadership Center provides leadership-centered education and research to individuals, organizations and communities.
  • George Voinovich School, Ohio University
    Through their professional and executive education programs, the Voinovich School offers public and non-profit sector organizations half-day or day-long training sessions.
