The John Glenn College of Public Affairs’ Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs program provides you with the knowledge and values required for public service. Our curriculum will give you the skills to work in government, nonprofit organizations or any place where analysis and leadership are needed.

Current Ohio State Students

Any Ohio State student in good standing can declare either major at any time. To declare the major, please call 614-292-8696 to make an appointment with a member of our advising staff.

If you are considering the major we also recommending taking Public Affairs 2110, Introduction to Public Affairs, to find out more about the field. This class is offered every term and counts as a social science general education course in most colleges. Course work in American government, microeconomics, and statistics is also encouraged. Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science are required to complete Math 1151, Statistics 1450 or equivalent, and an additional lab science course.

Double Majors

The Glenn College encourages students to consider pursuing double majors. Public Affairs is a diverse field that pairs well with many different programs on campus and adding a second major can be a great way to enrich your curriculum through policy studies. Most double major programs can be completed without adding significant time to degree.
