Glenntern opportunities are graduate assistantships awarded to students who receive a one-year university fellowship.

Glenn College Graduate Assistants, or "Glennterns", work with a public or nonprofit organization to help them make a difference while covering tuition and fees and earning a monthly stipend and health insurance benefits.

Glenn College graduate assistantship positions "Glennternships" are prestigious, highly competitive and awarded on an annual basis to MPA students who receive a university fellowship.

Assistantship Partnerships

Graduate assistantship programs often require students to work with faculty members or departments within the university. Glennternships pair our highest-achieving graduate students with public and mission-based organizations to apply what they have learned in the classroom to make an impact.

Partner organizations enter into an annual contract with the Glenn College.

Glennterns work for their organization for at least one academic year, at roughly 20 hours per week. If the contract is renewed, students can keep their position for up to two years.

Through this program, our partner organizations significantly decrease time spent hiring and training interns.

Glenn College Graduate Student Assistants can manage and/or research projects that have long-term implications for an organization.

Most teams do not have staff or capacity to work on long-term projects that do not serve an immediate need. Partners often fulfill these roles with Glennterns.

Glennterns succeed in assistantship positions using training in public management, public finance, public policy and data analysis.

Our graduate students bring valuable skills to our partners, including analytical, research, and communication skills, as well as knowledge in program evaluation, public policy formation, strategic planning, public budgeting and social media communications.
