Degrees that make a difference

To achieve this, the Glenn College offers two undergraduate degrees, the Bachelor of Arts in Public Management, Leadership, and Policy and the Bachelor of Science in Public Policy Analysis.

The Glenn College graduate certificate programs develop and highlight your skills in a specific area of expertise. We offer two certificates that can stand alone or be added on to a graduate degree program.

Staying ahead in today’s workplace takes continuous learning. The John Glenn College of Public Affairs provides Management Advancement for the Public Service (MAPS) training programs to meet the unique needs of public sector and nonprofit professionals at all career levels.

Unlocking housing wealth for older Americans

Housing wealth is a largely untapped resource that can help older adults supplement their incomes and buffer financial shocks in retirement. The federally insured reverse mortgage offers adults age 62 and older access to home equity with no required monthly payment. In a new white paper Professor Stephanie Moulton and her colleague Donald Haurin, Economics, Ohio State, propose two new product options to better align the federally insured reverse mortgage to the consumer segments it is uniquely qualified to serve.

Water may be scarce for new power plants in Asia

Professor Jeffrey Bielicki is a co-author of a study that found that climate change and over-tapped waterways could leave developing parts of Asia without enough water to cool existing and planned power plants that burn coal for energy. The paper, "Vulnerability of existing and planned coal-fired power plants in Developing Asia to changes in climate and water resources," was published in the journal Energy and Environment Science.

How can rural communities use collaborative governance methods to advance wealth creation?

Professor Jill Clark was awarded $498,951 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture for a three-year project titled “Pathways to Prosperity: Collaborative Local Governing for Rural Wealth Creation.” The project is an applied research and extension project that works to understand and support the development of community-driven approaches to developing healthy and sustainable rural economies. Clark will be the principal investigator and Glenn College doctoral candidate Aiden Irish, who helped author the grant, is the project manager.

Carrie Mayer named 2019 Tillman Scholar

Glenn College dual degree student and U.S. Army veteran Carrie Mayer has been named a 2019 Tillman Scholar. Mayer plans to pursue a law degree in the Moritz College of Law as well as a master of public administration degree in the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. She is one of just 60 scholars selected (only 2.5 percent of applicants were chosen) by the Pat Tillman Foundation (PTF) for the prestigious award.
