NASPAA Outlines Goals, Action Steps for DEIJA

News Type College News

Dedicated work on diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and accessibility initiatives continues among NASPAA’s leaders and committees.

In a recent update, John Glenn College of Public Affairs Dean Trevor Brown, NASPAA president, and Executive Director Angel Wright-Lanier remind members of the DEIJA plan’s goals and provide an update on the progress of implementation and future action steps.

In January 2023, NASPAA’s Executive Council passed its first Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Accessibility plan, an outgrowth of the final report of NASPAA’s Task Force on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, which was established after the social justice movement launched following the murder of George Floyd.

The plan outlines goals in accreditation, teaching and learning, delivering diversity in NASPAA and the field, research and recognition, annual conference planning, and communications and internal training.

This update from Brown and Wright-Lanier provides examples of how NASPAA is moving the plan forward by developing tactical action steps for each of the objectives listed under the six goals.
