Alex Temple

Lecturer

Alex Temple is a science and technology policy professional with nearly 10 years of experience across federal government, scientific societies and academia.

At the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, Temple has worked with the Committee on International Security and Arms Control (CISAC), Government-University-Industry-Philanthropy Research Roundtable (GUIPRR), Air Force Studies Board (AFSB), and Capacity Building programs. He led a number of activities, including the AI for Scientific Discovery Workshop, Reinventing the Right of Way Workshop, Aviation and Climate Change Meeting of Experts, Research Security Roundtable Boston Meeting, U.S.-India Track II Dialogues and the Mirzayan Fellowship program.

Previously at the U.S. Department of State, Temple oversaw federally funded research and innovation programs, negotiated international science agreements and conducted science diplomacy work across the Middle East and Africa.

Temple is currently completing his PhD in Public Policy at George Washington University (anticipated 2026), where his research examines the structure and evolution of international scientific agreements and their implications for cooperation in strategic technology domains. He holds an MS in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University (2019) and a BA in Public Affairs from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University (2016).
