Research Scientist

As a research scientist in criminal justice administration, Jennifer Cherkauskas will serve as principal investigator and co-principal investigator on extramurally funded projects and will present and publish research findings in technical reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts. She will collaborate with Glenn College faculty, students and staff members to identify, develop, submit, secure and manage federal, state, local and foundation grants for funding to conduct research on criminal justice administration. She will also collaborate with the Glenn College’s Professional Development team to develop and deliver technical assistance and training programs for criminal justice professionals.

Cherkauskas joined the John Glenn College of Public Affairs as a research scientist following two decades of research and project management experience in positions at the University of Cincinnati, the National Policing Institute and 21CP Solutions. She received her doctorate in crime, law and justice from The Pennsylvania State University. She has successfully provided executive oversight of, personally led or contributed to multiple large-scale research, evaluation and technical assistance projects focused on policing and public safety. These projects, involving partnerships with dozens of state, local and university police agencies, include topics such as organizational change, patrol officer behavior, police training, first-line supervision, violence reduction and racial and ethnic disparities in criminal justice outcomes. Her work is driven by a commitment to evidence-based practices and academic-practitioner partnerships.
