Jessica Valsi

Education Program Senior Specialist

As the education program senior specialist for the Geomatics Emerging Scientist Consortium for Geomatics Education, Research and Capabilities Enhancement (GEO-ESCON) , Jessica Valsi oversees the consortium’s education programs, which requires collaboration between multiple departments, colleges and universities to develop and sustain graduate-level distance learning solutions and custom educational solutions. She supports the director and executive director of GEO-ESCON in managing daily administrative operations of research, consortium administration and education activities.

Valsi has been affiliated with The Ohio State University since 2017. During this time, she has established a diverse skillset focused in higher education administration, program management and evaluation, recruitment, retention and communication. Prior to joining GEO-ESCON, Valsi worked in state government and most recently in community college administration.

She has a passion for increasing access to education and career training for first-generation college students, non-traditional students and students from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds. She earned her bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University and her master’s in public policy and management from Glenn College at The Ohio State University in 2020. She is passionate about education and public service.
