Jim Ellison

Career Advisor

As career advisor, Jim Ellison offers career services and professional development resources to all John Glenn College of Public Affairs students. 

Ellison maintains relationships with federal, state and local government employers as well as nonprofit agencies to connect our students with opportunities. He serves as a resource for jobs, internships and professional development for the college’s graduate, undergraduate and professional certificate students. He provides comprehensive career services including resume reviews, interview preparation and career exploration as well as one-on-one consultation and group workshops for career development. He is responsible for the Ohio Government Internship Program (OGIP), which places up to 15 undergraduate students in autumn and spring semester internships, and teaches a professional development class to support these students and students that seek internship credit for Public Affairs 4191.01. 

In addition to coaching students with career readiness, Ellison helps employers connect with our students for new opportunities

Ellison holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in library and information science from Kent State University. He has a certificate in federal advising (employment, applications, etc.) via the Partnership for Public Service.
