Associate Professor Megan LePere-Schloop has been named to the Ohio State University AI Fluency Faculty Advisory Council, which will help guide the ongoing implementation of the university’s AI Fluency initiative.

Ohio State is leading a bold, groundbreaking initiative to integrate artificial intelligence into the undergraduate educational experience. The initiative will ensure that every Ohio State student, beginning with the class of 2029, will graduate being AI fluent — fluent in their field of study and fluent in the application of AI in that field.

Glenn College Dean Trevor Brown also participates in the advisory council in his role as senior vice provost for academic affairs.

“Many colleges and universities are realizing that they need to make an investment in AI literacy for their students,” LePere-Schloop said. “Often, these initiatives focus on educating students on the technical foundations of AI. The fact that the Glenn College is well represented on the AI Fluency Faculty Advisory Council by both Dean Brown and me shows Ohio State’s commitment to educating students in both technical and responsible AI fluency.”

The perspectives and leadership of faculty are critical to the initiative’s success. Council members will advise on how best to embed AI across curricula, support pedagogical innovation and help ensure that students gain not only functional AI skills but also a deep understanding of the ethical, societal and disciplinary implications of AI use.

“AI Fluency is important for students in the Glenn College because it helps prepare them to fully engage as citizens, managers and leaders in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven society,” said LePere-Schloop, who also is the college director of graduate and professional studies.

The council brings together faculty from across colleges and campuses whose expertise spans a wide range of disciplines. Members will meet regularly and collaborate closely with the Office of Academic Affairs, the Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning and partners across the university.
