Moritz College of Law students practice lawyering skills in the Frank Woodside Courtroom.

Moritz College of Law and John Glenn College of Public Affairs will offer a new undergraduate Minor in Law and Public Policy.

This exciting collaboration between colleges gives students an opportunity to examine ways in which law, government and public well-being intersect. Beginning autumn 2025, it is the first undergraduate minor to be offered by Moritz College of Law.

This minor builds upon a robust relationship between our two colleges and underscores our mutual commitment to interdisciplinary education. Together, we have carefully curated courses that respond to the growing interest students have in the intersection of law and public policy and provide them with a unique and applied public sector perspective on law.

By taking classes in both legal studies and public affairs, students cultivate a unique understanding of the implementation of law and how it shapes public policy. Students enrolled in the minor will learn how to address real-world policy problems within the context of the law and gain insight into its impact on communities.

The 15-credit hour Minor in Law and Public Policy is filled with coursework that prepares students for a variety of careers such as government, nonprofits and lobbying. Students will learn from leading experts in law and policy while developing their abilities to integrate different points of view and communicate across disciplines.

We are grateful to partner with the Glenn College on this minor. We are looking forward to reaching undergraduate students and empowering the next generation of lawyers and leaders.

Two of the core courses in the minor will be taught by Moritz faculty in Drinko Hall, so undergraduate students exploring law school can begin learning from top law school scholars even before embarking on their JD degree. All undergraduate students can enroll in Moritz’s new undergraduate offerings, LAW 4030: An Introduction to the American Legal System and LAW 4035: Understanding Jurisprudence: An Introduction to Legal Theory.

The other two core courses in the minor, PUBAFRS 2110: Introduction to Public Affairs and PUBAFRS 4510: Law and Public Affairs, will be taught at the Glenn College. A variety of electives also count toward the minor, including the Oxford Pre-Law Study Abroad program.
