U.S. News & World Report ranks the Glenn College graduate program as 14th best

U.S. News & World Report recognized the John Glenn College of Public Affairs as among the top 5 percent of public affairs graduate school programs in its 2020 Best Graduate School rankings.

Of the 290 public affairs graduate programs, the Glenn College was placed as 14th best, four points better than last year when the college was ranked in the 18th spot.

“I know I speak for the faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the Glenn College by saying that we are humbled to be recognized for the hard work we all put in to try to get better every year," said Trevor Brown, dean of the Glenn College. "Senator Glenn would be proud of our continued efforts to inspire citizenship and develop leadership in the public sector.”

In addition to the overall ranking, three of the college specialties were highly ranked. Public Management and Leadership moved from 18th to 10th best; Nonprofit Management is ranked at No. 12 and Public Policy Analysis is at No. 25.

"It is always important to take these annual surveys with a bit of a grain of salt," said Robert Greenbaum, associate dean for curriculum at the Glenn College. "But, it really indicates that our peers continue to recognize all of the good things happening more broadly across the college."

This marks the Glenn College's steady rise in the rankings. In 2007, the then John Glenn School of Public Affairs was ranked at No. 46. In 2012 it catapulted up 17 points to No. 29. In 2016 the college was at No. 25 and last year it ranked No. 18.

"I see direct evidence of our climb in the rankings when I review student applications each year," said Greenbaum. "I’m just blown away by the quality of many of our applicants."

The new ranking places the Glenn College 46 spots above the next highest ranked program in the state of Ohio. No other public affairs program in Ohio ranked in the top 50 schools.
