Christi Scott Bartman

Senior Lecturer

Christi Scott Bartman believes in putting the “service” back in public service. She serves on the American Society for Public Administration’s Ethics Committee and previously served on its Endowment Board and Awards Committee.

She has been involved in anti-human trafficking efforts in Ohio since 2010. Working in areas such as law, legislation and advocacy, she saw the need for even more dedicated effort. To do that, she left her position as program director of public administration, public policy and legal studies at American Public University System and now operates as a compassionate catalyst to push for better ways to address human trafficking and the vulnerabilities that underlie it. She founded Eyes Up Appalachia in 2020 in furtherance of those efforts.

In 2021 she received The Social Justice Leader Award from the University of Toledo’s Human Trafficking and Social Justice Institute, was a semi-finalist in the Everyday Heroes of Central Ohio and was chosen as one of the inaugural fellows for the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio in 2022. In 2023 she was awarded the Everyday Ohio Heroes Award for the Southeast Region by the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund. In 2025 she received the Patriot Award from the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

Bartman holds a BSBA, MPA, JD and PhD. She is the founder of Basic Concepts, Ltd., offering consulting services to nonprofit and educational institutions such as strategic planning, board and committee training, and curriculum development. She is also a Certified Professional Coach and an Air Force veteran.
