Douglas Burnett

John Glenn Graduate Fellow

Douglas Burnett is a Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa recent graduate of Morehouse College, where he obtained his degree in Political Science with a minor in Sales and Sociology. Douglas is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. During his matriculation at Morehouse College, he engaged in numerous student leadership positions such as serving as the President Pro Tempore of the Student Senate, Lead NSO Commander, and Student Ambassador. In the summer of 2022, Douglas interned on Capitol Hill in the Legislative Affairs department of America’s Essential Hospital Association. Additionally, in the summer of 2023 he interned with the Congressional Black Caucus under the leadership of Chairman Steven Horsford.

Growing up in a proximate neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio he witnessed the social atrocities associated with race and social class, which inspired him to engage in a career focused on public service. He deeply believes it is the greatest debt he can pay to make the world a more equitable environment. Douglas's career interests are centered around social justice liberation within race relations, the medical industrial complex, criminal justice, and voting rights. Currently, he is advancing his education at The Ohio State University as an MPA-DC fellow and working for the U.S. Department of Transportation.
