Margaret O’Hora

Lecturer

Margaret K. O’Hora is an attorney and writer with extensive experience in local government focused on labor and employment policy. Since 2023, O’Hora has served as a Legislative Analyst for the Congressional Research Service, researching and writing about federal legislation. 

O’Hora previously served as Legislative Counsel for the DC Council Committee on Labor and Workforce Development, authoring many pieces of legislation that are now District Law (including a ban on noncompete agreements, paid prenatal leave, and domestic worker employment rights). She has advocated on behalf of workers as an attorney in the New York City Office of Labor Policy and Standards and supported disaster survivors as part of the New York Legal Assistance Group's Storm Response Unit. 

O’Hora has previously taught Personal Finance 180, a course aimed at helping high school juniors and seniors plan for college costs and their future careers, offered through the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Professional Studies. 

She is a graduate of CUNY School of Law and SUNY Albany (BA) and served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in North Macedonia from 2007 to 2009.
