Glenn College Launches Leadership Newsletter

News Type Public Address

Each fall, the John Glenn College of Public Affairs hosts the Leadership Forum, the state’s premier conference for public sector professionals.

What challenges do you as a leader face today?

Developed to support public and nonprofit professionals, the new John Glenn College of Public Affairs Leadership News is created by experts, practitioners, instructors and faculty who have walked in your shoes.

The January newsletter, for example, offered insights into being a trustworthy public or nonprofit leader from Tayo Switzer, owner of Leadership 6 Consulting and Glenn College instructor. Switzer has over 20 years of experience coaching senior executives to be the best leaders possible for their teams and organizations. He shared five critical behaviors for leaders in mission-driven organizations and tips for implementation. Stay true to your passion and moral compass, he said, and help others do the same.

February's newsletter examined challenges and solutions for recruiting and retaining today’s public service and administration workforce with expertise from Glenn College faculty and instructors.

The newsletter also highlights the college Leadership Podcast, a series offering guidance and inspiration for public and nonprofit professionals.

In recent episodes, Mayor Aftab Pureval shared how he sees opportunity for building back the strength of our democracy through local offices. He explained how the leadership nuances in persuasion, collaboration, risk tolerance and more give him the opportunity and platform to improve the lives of Cincinnatians. And Mo Wright, through his business, RAMA Consulting, and community organizations including the African American Leadership Academy, helps servant leaders become more effective in both life and business. He offered tips for ways living your life by design, not by default, can lead to better management and organizational success.
