Peter Shane’s New Podcast: ‘Democracy’s Chief Executive’

Moritz College of Law Professor Emeritus Peter Shane, former Glenn College affiliated faculty, has recorded a six-part series on how law shapes the powers of the presidency. On Episode 1, Professor Nancy Kassop, SUNY New Paltz, joins Shane to interview former Obama White House Counsel Bob Bauer and former Bush Justice Department Counsel Jack Goldsmith on the role of presidential lawyers. On Episode 2, law Professors David Driesen, Syracuse University, and Matt Waxman, Columbia University, along with Liza Goitein of the Brennan Center for Justice, discuss presidential war and emergency powers. Episode 3 features Shane and co-host Dean Mark Rozell, of George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government, along with law Professors Margaret Kwoka, Moritz College of Law, and Heidi Kitrosser, Northwestern University, who discuss presidential secrecy. The remaining episodes, which will publish weekly on Mondays, will focus on the reach of executive orders, presidents in court and the future of impeachment.
