Carly Dearborn

Public Policy Archivist

Biography

Assistant Professor Carly Dearborn is the public policy archivist at The Ohio State University Libraries, where she manages the Ohio Public Policy Archives. She is responsible for promoting and expanding the archives through outreach, instruction and reference services.

Dearborn has a master’s degree in information science from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota.

Dearborn and colleagues utilize self-determination theory to define student-centeredness and provide empirical guidance for creating a learning environment supporting student motivation, persistence and academic achievement. The proposed framework provides both structure and theoretical grounding for the archivist while also cultivating a learning environment which effectively motivates novice researchers.
